Five anglers have been charged with fishing in a protected fish sanctuary along the Ganaraska River in Port Hope.
A Ministry of Natural Resources conservation officer laid the charges Saturday, Oct. 17, after finding three anglers on the east side and two on the west side fishing beneath the Jocelyn Street bridge, where angling is prohibited.
The river continues to attract anglers as the annual salmon run winds down and trout begin moving upstream.
