The Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation is directing fundraising efforts toward breast-cancer diagnostic imaging as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Foundation representative Carrie Low told the hospital board that proceeds from a recent gala co-hosted with the Survivor-Thrivers dragon-boat team will support the initiative. The foundation’s Light Up A Life campaign, launching Nov. 12, will also contribute to the goal of raising $1.5 million.
Low reported the foundation raised $4.165 million in the first half of its fiscal year, largely thanks to an unexpected $2.5-million gift in May.
Meanwhile, the NHH Auxiliary reported strong retail performance. Representative Rick Riley said the Little Treasure Shoppe gift shop had its second-best September on record, while year-to-date retail revenue reached $214,442, up from $194,225 last year.
The auxiliary has also restored daily volunteer shifts in the intensive care unit, recruited 14 volunteers over the summer and plans to seek additional members at the Y Seniors’ Fair.
