The Cobourg Police Service says there is no risk to public safety following an investigation into comments made by a student at a local elementary school.
Police say officers were notified about the incident at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 7 after the student made remarks that were perceived as threatening school safety.
Working with school officials, officers investigated the report and determined there was no immediate danger. Further inquiries also found no weapons or other safety concerns.
Police say they take all reports involving potential threats to schools seriously and will continue working with school administrators and community partners to help protect students, staff and the wider community.
