The $2.3-million renovation of the Haldimand Community Memorial Arena in Grafton remains on schedule to welcome skaters back for the 2026-27 ice season.
The Alnwick/Haldimand Township project includes replacement of the concrete rink slab, upgrades to refrigeration and cooling systems, new boards and glass, and a low-emissivity ceiling to improve energy efficiency and ice quality.
The community has also rallied behind the project, with nearly $330,000 raised through donations and fundraising efforts. A $250,000 contribution included a pledge to match the next $125,000 raised dollar-for-dollar.
Township officials say the renovations are intended to extend the arena’s lifespan, improve safety and reliability, and preserve an important community and veterans’ memorial facility.
