Claire Holloway Wadhwani is seeking another term on Port Hope municipal council after serving her first term. She says her approach to local government is centred on showing up for residents, asking difficult questions and working collaboratively to build a resilient, fair and forward-looking community. She and her husband are raising their three children in Port Hope.
Priorities and Experience
Holloway Wadhwani brings more than 20 years of experience in community development in Canada and abroad, including work as an executive director and operating her own practice. She says that experience has shaped her focus on asset-based approaches, collaborative governance and meaningful community engagement.
During her first term, she says she has focused on working across boundaries and ensuring residents have a genuine voice in municipal decision-making. Democratic accountability and transparent financial decision-making are among the principles she identifies as central to her approach.
Looking ahead, Holloway Wadhwani says she wants to continue working toward a community that is resilient and prepared for future challenges. She emphasizes the importance of long-term thinking, even when decisions are difficult, and believes communities and elected officials should work together to achieve strong outcomes.
Why Port Hope
