The Brighton Vikings have wasted no time making an impression in their inaugural Greater Metro Junior A Hockey League season, winning their first two games as a franchise.
Brighton opened its history Friday night with a 6-3 victory over the Orangeville Blitz in the club’s first-ever game, home opener and season opener. The Vikings followed up Saturday with another win, edging Orangeville 5-4 to complete the weekend sweep.
The two victories give Brighton a 2-0 record to start its debut campaign and provide the new franchise with plenty of early momentum.
Friday’s opener was a milestone night for the organization, with players, coaches, staff and supporters celebrating the arrival of junior hockey in Brighton. The Vikings marked the occasion by scoring six times in front of their home crowd.
