Lace up your shoes, pump up the tires on your bike and leash up the dog for a day of outdoor fun in support of hospice care in the Northumberland community.
The Hike, Bike and Bark fundraiser is taking place in Victoria Park, 138 Division Street starting at 9 a.m. with registration on Sunday September 27.
Event and relationships coordinator Kristen Andrews says there are many different routes to choose from.
Community Care Northumberland event and relationships coordinator Kristin Andrews says the event is a chance to have fun and raise money for a great cause.
Andrews says fundraising is key since the services Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre Foundation are provided at no cost for people in the community.
Andrews says the event is really about community, “people have supported Ed’s House since the very beginning 6 years ago and supported hospice care in Northumberland for over 35 years.”
As of Wednesday over 200 people have registered for the event.
Andrews says bringing your furry friends is not only allowed, but highly encouraged as it makes the event much more fun.
After the hike there is a barbeque in the park along with a kids zone and Andrews promised some special surprises.
Andrews says you can get your pet ready for the walk by taking them to Pet Value in Cobourg where the Ryan Huffman real estate team is doing a nail trim and dog wash from 11 – 3 with all proceeds going to Hike, Bike and Bark.
Justin’s Pet Store has donated two raffle baskets which you can buy tickets for at the event. One for dogs and one for cats.
