A Northumberland resident is coming full circle with her love of theatre as she prepares to direct her first-ever production at the Brighton Barn Theatre.
Audrey Morgan is directing Till Beth Do Us Part, a comedy opening September 25th and running through October 10th.
Morgan studied theatre at the University of Toronto, but says life eventually led her in other directions. Her career included work in advertising, holistic health care and a 20-year career running her own jewellery design business.
After she and her husband moved to Brighton from the GTA three years ago, they decided to quickly become involved in their new community.
The Barn Theatre became a natural fit.
Morgan has appeared in several productions with the theatre, while her husband has also become involved on stage and behind the scenes. Now, Morgan is taking on directing for the first time.
The upcoming production follows married couple Gibby and Susanna Hayden, whose demanding careers have begun taking a toll on their relationship. Things become even more complicated when an assistant named Beth Bailey enters their lives.
Morgan describes the production as a fast-paced and funny comedy.
Beyond the entertainment, the production also supports the local community. Every person involved with the Barn Theatre is a volunteer, including actors, directors, lighting and sound crews, and those helping with costumes and set construction.
Ticket proceeds support the maintenance and preservation of Proctor House Museum and the continued operation of the Barn Theatre.
Evening performances begin at 7:30 p.m. on September 25th and 26th, October 1st, 2nd, 8th and 9th. Matinee performances begin at 2 p.m. on September 27th and October 3rd, 4th and 10th.
Tickets are $20.
Morgan says anyone interested in theatre is encouraged to check out the Barn Theatre, whether they want to enjoy a show or potentially become involved as a volunteer.
Her hope for audiences is simple: come in, relax, and enjoy the ride.
