Two Cobourg residents are facing charges after an OPP drug-trafficking investigation led to the seizure of suspected cocaine worth about $21,000.
The OPP Community Street Crime Unit began investigating suspected drug trafficking in Northumberland County in July.
Police say two people were arrested in Cobourg on Aug. 12. Officers initially seized about 15 grams of suspected cocaine and some Canadian currency.
A search warrant was later carried out at a Cobourg residence under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Police say officers found about 250 additional grams of suspected cocaine, along with drug-trafficking paraphernalia. Cash and cellphones were also seized.
The combined amount of suspected cocaine has an estimated street value of approximately $21,000.
Chelsea Warner, 38, of Cobourg has been charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
Marc Kinach, 55, also of Cobourg, has been charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
Warner was held for a court appearance, while Kinach is due in Cobourg court in September.
None of the charges have been proven in court.
