A dealership is helping local students prepare for the new school year by collecting donations for United Way Hastings and Prince Edward’s Backpacks for Success program.
Lange and Fetter Motors is hosting a school supply drive through Friday, August 14. Community members are encouraged to donate new school supplies to help provide local students with the tools they need to start the school year ready to learn.
Items being collected include pencils, sharpeners, pens, scissors, notebooks, lined paper, binders, highlighters, erasers, glue sticks and pencil crayons.
The Backpacks for Success program will provide more than 1,100 students with a brand-new backpack filled with essential school supplies at a fraction of the retail cost.
United Way Hastings and Prince Edward says the program remains an important support as families continue to deal with rising living costs.
Jennifer Smith, Director of Fundraising and Community Engagement at United Way Hastings and Prince Edward, says she loves seeing so many people rally to help our local students and that it is inspiring to see each year.
Lange and Fetter Motors is located at 52 Dundas Street East in Trenton. Donations can be dropped off Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The drive is part of the larger Backpacks for Success program, which relies on community donations, businesses, sponsors and volunteers to provide school supplies to local students.
United Way Hastings and Prince Edward says the organization supports one in four people in the local community and funds 39 agencies and 43 programs.
