Angela Grogan is making another bid for the mayor’s chair in Port Hope, filing her nomination papers for the 2026 municipal election.
Grogan filed her papers on June 18th and is currently one of three candidates who have entered the mayoral race. She joins Todd Attridge and Jordan Stevenson, who filed their nominations on June 30th and July 9th, respectively.
Grogan previously ran for mayor in the 2022 municipal election. She received 551 votes in that four-way contest, which was won by current Mayor Olena Hankivsky with 2,093 votes. Jeff Lees finished second with 1,894 votes, followed by Laurie Carr with 1,587.
Hankivsky has not yet filed nomination papers for the 2026 election.
The nomination period remains open until 2 p.m. on Friday, August 21st. The Municipality of Port Hope says the final list of certified candidates will be released following certification on Monday, August 24th.
The 2026 municipal election will include races for mayor, ward councillors and school board trustees. Voting in Port Hope will take place by internet and telephone, with the voting period opening October 16th and closing at 8 p.m. on October 26th, election day.
The mayoral race could continue to grow before nominations close, with additional candidates able to enter before the August 21st deadline.
