A 22 year old Cobourg woman is facing charges following an intimate partner violence investigation by the Cobourg Police Service.
Police say that at approximately 6:10 p.m. on July 14, an officer on general patrol observed a man walking in Cobourg who appeared to have visible scratches and cuts on his body. Officers stopped to check on the man’s well being and began an investigation into how the injuries occurred.
According to police, investigators determined the injuries were the result of an assault involving an intimate partner.
As a result of the investigation, a 22 year old Cobourg woman was arrested and charged with assault and assault by choking. She was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Police have not released the identity of the accused in order to protect the identity of the victim.
