Northumberland OPP are asking for the public’s help to identify the owners of suspected stolen tools and equipment recovered during the execution of a search warrant in Brighton.
Members of the Peterborough/Northumberland Community Street Crime Unit carried out a Criminal Code search warrant at a property on Lakeshore Road on July 6.
During the search, officers recovered a vehicle that had recently been reported stolen from a nearby township, along with a quantity of trade tools, power tools and other equipment believed to have been stolen.
Two Brighton residents were arrested at the property. Both have been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, while one of the accused also faces a charge of failing to comply with a probation order.
Both individuals were held for bail hearings before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.
Investigators believe many of the recovered tools and equipment may belong to victims of theft and have released photographs of the items in hopes of identifying their rightful owners.
Anyone who believes the recovered property belongs to them is asked to contact Detective Constable Tamlin or Detective Constable Murphy at the Brighton OPP Detachment by calling 613-475-1313. Police ask callers to be prepared to provide proof of ownership.
Anyone with information about this or any other criminal offence is also encouraged to contact the OPP or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
