Families are invited to enjoy a free day of fishing, food and fun later this month as the 18th annual Blair Smith Memorial Fishing with Kids event returns to downtown Trenton.
The event will be held Saturday, July 25, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Centennial Park.
Created in memory of Blair Smith, the annual event introduces young people to fishing while encouraging families to spend time together outdoors.
Organizer Tammy Smith says the event reflects her late husband’s love of fishing and his passion for creating lasting memories with children and families.
The first 150 children to attend will receive a free loot bag filled with fishing tackle.
The afternoon will also feature a fishing pond, face painting, prize draws, complimentary hot dogs and drinks, and educational information from the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters.
The event is supported by the City of Quinte West, the Trenton Downtown Business Improvement Area, High Falls Outfitters, along with numerous local businesses and community volunteers.
Admission is free.
Children must be accompanied by an adult and wear a life jacket while participating. Families are encouraged to bring their own fishing rods and tackle.
