The Town of Cobourg is advising residents and visitors of several road closures and traffic restrictions associated with Downtown Cobourg Pride this weekend.
Hosted by the Downtown Business Improvement Area, the annual event will take place Saturday, June 20, transforming King Street into a community gathering space celebrating diversity, inclusion and pride.
Festivities are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will include a street market, live entertainment, food trucks, drag performances, a kid’s zone, extended patios and activities for all ages.
A Pride Parade is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m., travelling from Victoria Park to the Cobourg Police Station.
To accommodate the event, King Street West between Spring Street and Division Street, along with Second Street, will be closed from 7 a.m. Saturday until 7 a.m. Sunday.
Additional parade-related closures will affect King Street East between Division Street and McGill Street from 10:30 a.m. until 11 a.m.
The Town says several other traffic restrictions will be in place throughout the downtown core, including closures at the intersection of King Street and Third Street/George Street and limited access on nearby side streets.
Officials are encouraging motorists to plan alternate routes, allow extra travel time and follow posted signage and directions from event staff.
Visitors attending the celebration will be able to take advantage of three hours of free parking in downtown municipal lots.
The Town of Cobourg says it is proud to support the event and is thanking residents, businesses, organizers and volunteers for helping make the celebration possible.
