The Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority is looking for volunteers to help plan the future of non-motorized recreation in the Central Ganaraska Forest.
The GRCA is recruiting up to three Volunteer Assistant Trail Developers to work alongside its Conservation Lands team on the design and planning of proposed single-track trails.
The volunteer opportunity will run from July 12 through August 23, with participants meeting Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Ganaraska Forest Centre in Campbellcroft. Organizers note the schedule offers some flexibility for volunteers.
The role combines both indoor and outdoor work. Volunteers will assist with identifying and evaluating potential trail routes while helping develop plans for future trail infrastructure within the Central Ganaraska Forest.
Officials say the project is intended to support the continued development of non-motorized recreation opportunities while ensuring trails are planned in a sustainable and environmentally responsible manner.
The Ganaraska Forest is widely recognized as one of Ontario’s premier outdoor recreation destinations, attracting hikers, cyclists, trail runners and other outdoor enthusiasts from across the province.
The volunteer positions provide an opportunity for people with an interest in trail development, conservation and outdoor recreation to gain practical experience while contributing to the long-term planning of the forest trail network.
Applications are open now and will be accepted until June 26.
The GRCA says the project deliverable will be the creation of a proposed route for future single-track trails within the Central Ganaraska Forest.
More information about the volunteer opportunity, including application details and requirements, is available through the Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority website.
