Cobourg Transit riders will soon have more flexibility when planning trips thanks to a new upgrade coming to the transit app.
The Town of Cobourg announced that beginning June 15, users of the Cobourg Transit app will be able to view both fixed-route and on-demand transit options through a single platform.
The new multi-modal feature was developed in partnership with RideCo and is designed to make it easier for riders to compare available services and choose the option that best fits their travel needs.
Under the update, fixed-route trips will appear alongside existing on-demand options within the app. Fixed-route services will be clearly identified as “Cobourg Transit Fixed Route” to help riders distinguish between the two types of service.
The app will also provide step-by-step walking directions to and from nearby bus stops for passengers choosing fixed-route transit.
Town officials say the enhancement is intended to improve accessibility and simplify the trip-planning process for residents and visitors alike.
Passengers using fixed-route transit will not be required to book trips through the app. Instead, they can continue to travel to their preferred bus stop and board when the bus arrives, as they do today.
The Town of Cobourg says the upgrade reflects its ongoing commitment to improving transit efficiency and rider experience through technology.
The new functionality will become available to all app users on June 15. In-app notifications will help guide riders through the changes and explain the new features.
Residents can download the Cobourg Transit app through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
More information about transit services is available through the Town of Cobourg’s website or by contacting customer service.
