The Town of Cobourg is inviting residents to learn more about proposed wastewater infrastructure improvements and provide feedback as part of its ongoing Sanitary Sewershed Master Plan.
A second Public Information Centre has been scheduled for June 17 at the Cobourg Community Centre, where residents can review study findings, discuss potential solutions, and speak directly with members of the project team.
According to the Town, the study is examining future capacity needs within the sanitary sewer system, which is currently serviced by Water Pollution Control Plant No. 1 and several associated pumping stations.
Officials say projected population and development growth are expected to place increasing demands on the existing system, making upgrades necessary to ensure sufficient capacity in the years ahead.
The June 17 session will include information on technical and environmental studies completed to date, feedback received during the first public consultation, alternative design concepts that have been evaluated, and the preferred approach currently being recommended.
The study area includes Water Pollution Control Plant No. 1, as well as the Lakeview, Forth Street, and Monks Cove sanitary pumping stations.
The public information centre will be held in a drop-in format from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Cobourg Community Centre on D’Arcy Street.
Residents unable to attend in person will be able to review the presentation materials online beginning June 18 through the Town’s reports and studies webpage. A comment form will also be available, with feedback being accepted until July 17.
The master plan is being completed under Ontario’s Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process and will help guide future wastewater infrastructure investments needed to support growth and development in Cobourg.
