With the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s set for this Saturday (May 30) at Beavermead Park, the executive director of the local Alzheimer Society says thousands of local residents living daily with dementia will benefit from participant’s pledges.
With an event goal of $130,000, all money raised will support a number of programs that benefit some 15,000 people diagnosed with dementia and their caregivers.
Jen Johnstone says all funds raised go to locally-provided programs and services, such as counselling and navigation.
Johnston says other beneficiaries of walk proceeds are education programming provided care partners, and social and recreation programs.
Johnstone says have to cancel any offered programs and services due to a lack of funding would be absolutely devastating for both clients and caregivers.
Registration for the 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. walk event can be done online.
