A 31 year old Oshawa man is facing charges following a theft investigation connected to a business in Cobourg earlier this year.
Cobourg police say officers received a report January 9 regarding an alleged theft that took place the previous evening at a business near Strathy Road and DePalma Drive.
According to investigators, surveillance footage showed an individual moving throughout the store placing merchandise into a shopping cart before allegedly leaving through an emergency fire exit without making any attempt to pay.
Police allege the suspect then fled the area in a vehicle.
Following an investigation, a 31 year old Oshawa man was arrested May 20 and charged with theft under 5 thousand dollars and possession of property obtained by crime under 5 thousand dollars.
The accused was later released on an undertaking with a future court date.
