A 35 year old Cobourg man is facing multiple charges following an alleged assault investigation in Cobourg.
According to Cobourg police, officers responded May 18 to a report of an assault after the incident had already occurred.
Police say investigators learned two individuals became involved in a verbal altercation around 10 p.m. in the area of Third Street.
Investigators allege the confrontation escalated when one man assaulted the other by punching and kicking the victim multiple times.
Police further allege the suspect produced a knife during the incident and held the handle against the victim’s neck.
As a result of the investigation, a 35 year old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with assault, assault with a weapon and failing to comply with a release order.
The allegations have not been proven in court.
