The Town of Cobourg is inviting residents to take part in a public meeting later this month focused on zoning changes and development proposals.
Council will meet on Wednesday, May 20 at 5 p.m. at Victoria Hall to consider several planning matters, with options for residents to attend in person or participate online.
One of the key items on the agenda is a proposed update to the town’s Comprehensive Zoning By law. Officials say the changes are administrative in nature, addressing mapping errors, adding missing definitions, removing duplicate regulations, and ensuring alignment with the Town’s Official Plan.
The meeting will also include a proposal for a new long term care home at 660 Kerr Street West. The application seeks amendments to allow a four storey facility with 256 beds and 164 parking spaces, along with changes to the site’s designation and zoning.
Another item under consideration is a zoning by law amendment for 296 George Street. The proposal requests setback relief to support a high density residential development in the downtown area.
Town officials say the public meeting is an opportunity for residents to learn more about the proposals and provide input before decisions are made.
Residents who wish to speak can register in advance, while written submissions can also be submitted to the Town’s clerk.
Additional information is available through the Town of Cobourg’s planning department, and residents are encouraged to take part in the process.
