McHappy Day returns May 6, and this year, YMCA Northumberland is at the heart of the local impact.
The organization has been named the charitable partner for McDonald’s locations in Cobourg, Port Hope, Brighton and Campbellford, meaning a portion of every purchase will help fund youth programs across the region.
Zoey Read, Manager of Philanthropy with YMCA Northumberland, says the partnership is about bringing communities together to support kids and families.
Funds raised will support several key initiatives, including a major new addition at the Cobourg YMCA.
The climbing tower is expected to become a flagship feature, offering children a new way to stay active while building confidence and skills.
In Campbellford, fundraising will go toward a new outdoor pavilion at the YMCA camp, providing a dedicated space for programming and shelter during summer activities.
In Brighton, funds will support expanded camp programming, including new activities and day trip opportunities for local youth.
Community members can take part simply by visiting a participating McDonald’s location on May 6, with every order contributing to the cause.
Volunteers will also be on-site throughout the day, collecting donations and helping raise awareness about YMCA programs.
Read says the goal is simple: to create more opportunities for children across Northumberland County to learn, grow and feel a sense of belonging through accessible, community-based programming.
