Cobourg Police Service say two Port Hope residents are facing multiple charges following the execution of a search warrant as part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation.
Police say members of the Cobourg Police Service and Port Hope Police Service Criminal Investigation Bureaus, along with uniform patrol officers, executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a residence on Peter Street in Port Hope on April 30.
As a result of the search, officers seized fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, and clonazepam pills, along with weigh scales and packaging materials consistent with drug trafficking.
Police estimate the street value of the drugs seized at approximately $13,000.
A 56-year-old Port Hope resident and a 61-year-old Port Hope resident have been charged with multiple offences, including possession for the purpose of trafficking several schedule one substances, possession of a schedule three and four substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime under 5,000 dollars, and failure to comply with an undertaking.
Police say one of the accused faces an additional charge related to cocaine trafficking.
Both individuals were held in custody for a bail hearing.
Police say the investigation remains ongoing as officers continue efforts to address drug trafficking activity in the region.
