The Campbellford community is coming together to support the family of 14-year-old Colson Myers following his tragic death in an ATV rollover earlier this month.
Myers died April 22 after a single vehicle collision on an off-road trail between Burnbrae Road East and Loucks Road, just east of Campbellford.
Dooher’s Bakery recently held a Donut Day Fundraiser, with all proceeds going directly to the Myers family.
The bakery created a signature blue and white sprinkle “Myers donuts” and says the response from the community was overwhelming. Staff reported more than 280 dozen donuts were sold and more than 40 pounds of sprinkles were used. Demand was so strong they ran out of blue and white sprinkles and switched to classic rainbow sprinkles to keep up with orders.
A GoFundMe campaign created for the family describes Colson as a vibrant and compassionate 14-year-old who lit up every room with his warm smile and kindness.
The fundraiser says he was in his first year of high school, worked part time in town, and loved hockey, baseball, golfing, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his dog Cooper.
Organizers describe him as adventurous, full of life, and someone who brought positivity wherever he went.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the campaign had raised more than $37,000, well above its original five thousand dollar goal.
Sharpe’s Food Market, where Colson worked, also posted a tribute calling him an incredible young man whose smile lifted those around him.
Papa’s Pizzaland will also hold a fundraiser Friday, with five dollars from every two-medium pizza special donated to the Myers family.
