The Town of Cobourg is inviting residents to explore one of its most colourful traditions during a municipal greenhouse open house on Saturday, May 9th.
The free event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Town of Cobourg Greenhouse, located at 501 Thompson Street.
Visitors will have the chance to join guided tours led by the Town’s horticulture team and learn how thousands of annuals and perennials are seeded, transplanted, and prepared for Cobourg’s public flower beds and hanging baskets.
The open house will also feature a behind the scenes look at the greenhouse operation, along with historic photo albums showcasing past Floral Clock designs.
Residents can enjoy complimentary coffee and refreshments, while a barbecue lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Town officials say the event is designed to be fun and educational for all ages, making it a great outing for families, garden enthusiasts, and anyone interested in how Cobourg’s public spaces are maintained.
Officials are reminding visitors that the plants grown at the greenhouse are cultivated exclusively for municipal gardens and are not for sale to the public.
The Town says the open house is a unique opportunity to see the work that goes into keeping Cobourg’s gardens and floral displays vibrant throughout the season.
The event is supported by Baltimore Valley Garden Centre and the Cobourg Garden Club.
