The Town of Cobourg is advising residents and visitors that the Albert Street parking lot will be closed to the public on Wednesday, April 29th.
The closure affects the lot located at 185 First Street and is needed to allow consultants hired by the property owner to complete site work related to an Environmental Site Assessment.
Town officials say the work will include drilling and sampling on the property as part of the assessment process.
The Environmental Site Assessment, often called an ESA, helps identify site conditions and any potential environmental concerns connected to the land.
The Town’s Development Division says the work is expected to be completed in one day, and the parking lot should reopen once the work is finished.
However, if additional time is required to complete the testing, the town says a further public notice will be issued.
Residents and visitors planning to use downtown parking on Wednesday are encouraged to make alternate arrangements during the temporary closure.
No additional impacts to nearby streets or businesses were noted in the notice.
