The Municipality of Port Hope is inviting residents to take part in a full day of environmental action as part of Earth Week celebrations later this month.
The Green Together Sustainability Expo will take place on April 26 at the Town Park Recreation Centre, running from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will bring together local environmental groups, businesses, students, and community organizations to showcase practical ways residents can support sustainability.
Organizers say the free, all ages event will feature hands on demonstrations, workshops, and a youth showcase highlighting creative environmental projects. Topics will include biodiversity, energy efficiency, nature protection, and the circular economy.
As part of the day, residents are also encouraged to take part in a community clean up beginning at 12:30 p.m. Volunteers will work together to collect litter and refresh shared public spaces. Registration is required for those taking part in the clean up in order to receive gloves and waste bags.
Following the clean up, participants are invited to stay for a community barbecue starting at 2 p.m., offering a chance to connect with fellow volunteers and community partners.
The event is organized in part by the Port Hope Environmental Advisory Committee, which provides guidance to municipal council on sustainability and environmental priorities.
