Residents in Port Hope are being encouraged to prepare ahead of time as registration opens soon for spring aquatics, fitness, and community programs.
The Municipality of Port Hope says registration begins April 13 at 7:30 a.m. for residents, with general registration opening April 14 at the same time. Officials note that spaces in popular programs, particularly swimming lessons, tend to fill quickly once registration opens.
Spring aquatics and program sessions will run from April 27 to June 21, while fitness programs will continue through June 28.
Participants can register online, in person, or by phone, although the municipality recommends using the online system to avoid lineups and delays. Residents are also reminded not to leave voicemail messages for registration, as spots are not held.
Officials say being prepared ahead of registration day can improve the chances of securing a spot. That includes ensuring accounts are up to date, confirming memberships where required, and completing swim assessments for children in advance.
Registration operates on a first come, first served basis, and individuals may only register members of their own household.
For those who miss out, waitlists are available and may be used to determine whether additional classes can be added.
More information, including program details and registration access, is available through the Municipality of Port Hope recreation webpage.
