The Municipality of Port Hope is introducing a new funding model aimed at supporting community projects that align more closely with its long term priorities.
Applications are now open for the Community Strategic Initiatives Program, a new approach that replaces the former Community Grants and Donations Program. The change is intended to focus municipal funding on initiatives that deliver measurable impact and reflect council approved priorities.
Under the program, eligible organizations can apply for up to 10 thousand dollars in funding for projects that support key areas identified in the municipality’s strategic plan, including building a more inclusive, prosperous, sustainable, and innovative community.
Municipal officials say the shift represents a move toward more targeted investment in community led initiatives that strengthen social, cultural, recreational, and tourism opportunities across Port Hope.
Funding for the program will be approved through the municipal operating budget each year, and not all applications are guaranteed full funding. Successful applicants may receive partial funding and could be required to enter into service agreements outlining project expectations.
Applications will be reviewed by an internal staff committee and evaluated based on established criteria, including alignment with strategic priorities and overall community benefit.
The first intake for the program is now underway, with applications due by April 30, 2026.
More information, including eligibility requirements and application guidelines, is available through the Municipality of Port Hope website.
