Firefighters from Alnwick Haldimand Township, along with crews from Hamilton Township and Cobourg, responded to a structure fire Monday afternoon at Northumberland Heights Wellness Retreat and Spa.
Emergency crews were called to the scene at approximately 3 p.m., where smoke was visible from the building.
Deputy Chief Rob Gourd, Alnwick Haldimand Fire Department tells us more.
Gourd says an interior attack crew was able to locate the source of the fire and begin suppression efforts quickly.
Fire officials say the blaze originated in a basement laundry room and they were concerned it could have extended into other parts of the structure.
Crews remained on scene to ensure there are no remaining hotspots or fire spread within the building.
No injuries were reported and an estimage on damage has yet to be released.
