The Port Hope Police Service Board has approved an extension of Chief Tim Farquharson’s contract, confirming he will remain in the role through March 2030.
The board says the decision reflects its confidence in Chief Farquharson’s leadership and the impact he has had on both the Port Hope Police Service and the broader community. Officials point to his focus on community engagement and relationship building as key factors in the extension.
Board representatives say Farquharson has helped strengthen partnerships with local organizations, community groups, and neighbouring police services, including Cobourg police and OPP. Those relationships are seen as an important part of a collaborative approach to policing across Northumberland County.
The board says extending the chief’s contract will provide stability and continuity as the service continues to respond to evolving community needs and policing challenges.
Chief Farquharson also acknowledged the extension, noting the importance of the team he works alongside and the partnerships that support community safety. He also highlighted the role of collaboration across the region in helping deliver effective and responsive policing.
The Port Hope Police Service Board says it will continue working with Farquharson and members of the service to support public safety and community wellbeing in the municipality.
