OPP say five people are facing multiple charges following a drug and firearms investigation in Trent Hills.
Police say members of the Peterborough Northumberland Community Street Crime Unit, assisted by OPP canine officers, executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act warrant at a residence on Grand Road March 25.
During the search, OPP say officers located ammunition, a bullet proof vest, about $1,000 in cash, and approximately 170 grams of suspected cocaine. Police say one individual attempted to flee and allegedly discarded a loaded handgun, which was later recovered.
OPP say officers also conducted a traffic stop in the area, where a person wanted on outstanding warrants and another occupant were arrested. During the vehicle search, police say they seized a loaded handgun, roughly 310 grams of suspected cocaine, and more than $10,000 in cash.
As a result of the investigation, Justin Moore, 27, Natasha Johnson, 37, and Ryan Robertson, 44, all of Campbellford, along with Jahnye Henricks, 31, of no fixed address, and Nathalie Tran, 37, of Oshawa, have been charged.
OPP say charges include possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking, multiple firearms offences, and possession of property obtained by crime.
All of the accused were held for bail and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.
