The Municipality of Port Hope is mourning the loss of former councilor John Bickle.
Bickle died Monday, March 9, 2026.
A lifelong resident of rural Port Hope, he served on Hope Township council from 1997 to 2000 and later on Port Hope council from 2018 to 2022.
Bickle also volunteered with the Hope Agricultural Heritage Centre and the Hope Agricultural Heritage Club, helped organize the Heroes Highway Ride, and served for a decade as a volunteer firefighter with the former Hope Township.
Flags at Town Hall have been lowered to half-mast in recognition of his service.
