Northumberland County has announced the appointment of Dan Borowec as its new Chief Administrative Officer.
County Council confirmed Borowec will begin the role on March 2, 2026, allowing for a transition period alongside Acting CAO Glenn Dees, who departs March 13.
Borowec previously served as the County’s Director of Economic Development, Planning and Strategic Initiatives for more than a decade before retiring in January 2025. During his tenure, he led several high profile initiatives, including spearheading the Eastern Ontario Development program, establishing the Ontario Agri-Food Venture Centre in Colborne and advancing rural broadband expansion across the region.
He also helped secure millions of dollars in investment and build partnerships to support economic growth, workforce housing expansion and infrastructure development.
Warden Bob Crate says Borowec brings a deep understanding of County operations and the broader legislative and economic environment in which the municipality operates. Council says his experience managing complex, multi partner projects and delivering results aligns with its long term vision for the community.
In a statement, Borowec says he looks forward to working with council, staff and community partners to advance Northumberland’s Community Strategic Plan. A long time resident of the area, he says he is committed to strengthening service delivery and supporting families, businesses and future generations.
Council also expressed appreciation to Glenn Dees for his leadership during the interim period.
Borowec’s appointment marks a new chapter in senior leadership at Northumberland County.
