Cobourg council’s February 25 meeting delivered updates on regional leadership, municipal operations and expanded healthcare services.
Mayor Lucas Cleveland told council that Northumberland County has completed its search for a new top administrator.
The formal announcement was made at press time and Dan Borowec has been named as Northumberland County’s new CAO.
Council also received a wide-ranging operational update from Cobourg CAO Tracy Vaughan, highlighting initiatives across departments. Among the changes residents will notice is an expansion of limited fixed-route service for Cobourg Transit.
Vaughan also noted March Break camp programming in partnership with YMCA Northumberland, proactive fire prevention outreach for local restaurants, ongoing upgrades to municipal IT infrastructure, and strong customer service engagement with more than 800 resident contacts recorded in January.
Healthcare access was another key item on the agenda. Council approved a temporary use bylaw permitting expansion of the Cobourg Care Clinic at 628 Ontario Street.
Dr. Isah Usman told council about his hopes for the clinic.
The three-year temporary approval is intended to support clinic growth while broader official plan and employment lands reviews continue.
Council approved the motion unanimously.
