Northumberland OPP are investigating an assault that occurred at Warkworth Institution in the Municipality of Trent Hills.
Police say officers were called to the federal correctional facility shortly after 7 p.m. on February 14 following reports of an altercation between two inmates. An edged weapon was reportedly involved in the incident.
One person was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. Police have not released information about the extent of the injuries.
An OPP Scenes of Crime Officer attended the institution to assist investigators. The Northumberland Crime Unit is leading the investigation.
No further details have been provided at this time.
