Cobourg police report a series of arrests over several days, with charges ranging from breaching court conditions to intimate partner violence and shoplifting.
On February 7 at about 9:15 a.m., officers on patrol near Sutherland Crescent and Battell Crescent say they observed a man allegedly violating a release order. Police say the individual ran when approached, leading to a short foot pursuit. During the arrest, officers say the man resisted and a conducted energy weapon was used. A 37 year old Cobourg man is charged with failing to comply with a release order, failing to comply with probation and assault with intent to resist arrest. He was remanded into custody.
Later that night, just before midnight, police responded to a disturbance on Division Street. Officers say a woman was intoxicated and became combative, allegedly kicking officers. A 57 year old Cobourg woman is charged with two counts of assaulting a peace officer and failing to comply with probation. She was released on an undertaking.
On February 8, police launched an intimate partner violence investigation after a woman reported receiving death threats from a former partner. Investigators allege the man arrived at the residence, damaged property and fled. A 39 year old Cobourg man was arrested nearby and charged with assault, forcible confinement, two counts of mischief, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, uttering threats, attempted break and enter and failing to comply with a release order. He was held for a show cause hearing.
Police also responded that evening to a separate domestic disturbance. A 37 year old Cobourg woman was arrested and charged with assault and mischief. She was later released with a future court date.
On February 9 at about 10:10 a.m., officers say they located two individuals together despite conditions prohibiting contact. A 34 year old man is charged with failing to comply with a release order. A 29 year old woman faces one count of failing to comply with a release order and two counts of breaching probation. Both were remanded into custody.
Later that afternoon, police were called to a business on Elgin Street West regarding a shoplifting complaint. A 56 year old Cobourg woman was arrested and charged with theft under five thousand dollars and failing to comply with probation. She was released on an undertaking.
All charges remain before the courts.
