Two separate traffic stops in Cobourg over the past week have resulted in arrests and criminal charges.
On Sunday, January 25, police stopped a vehicle around 9 a.m. and arrested a 55-year-old Quinte West woman who was wanted on a warrant. Officers also located a prohibited knife during the investigation. The woman faces charges including possession of a prohibited weapon, fail to attend court, fail to comply with an undertaking, and fail to comply with a release order. She was held for a bail hearing and later released on a release order.
The following evening, January 26, a traffic stop near Burnham Street and Elgin Street led to the arrest of a 46-year-old Cobourg woman on impaired driving charges. She was charged with operation while impaired and operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 milligrams. The woman has been released on an undertaking and will appear in court at a later date.
Both incidents serve as a reminder for drivers in the Cobourg area to comply with court orders and avoid impaired driving, which remains a key focus for community safety.
