The Town of Cobourg has announced that Trudy Stacey will serve as emcee for the 23rd Annual Civic Awards, taking place Tuesday, April 21, 2026, during National Volunteer Week.
Stacey is a familiar face in the community, known for her leadership in sport and business. A former professional hockey player in Salzburg, she also captained the women’s hockey team at Quinnipiac University, competing at the NCAA Division I level. Her commitment to teamwork and leadership has continued off the ice through her involvement in local sport and recreation initiatives across Northumberland County.
In 2022, Stacey was recognized with a Cobourg Civic Award, receiving the Sportsmanship Award for her contributions as a coach, organizer and advocate for local athletics. Today, she remains active in the community as the owner of Trudy’s Source for Sports, supporting local athletes, teams and organizations.
The Civic Awards celebrate residents who volunteer their time and energy to make Cobourg a better place to live. There are two levels of recognition: Major Awards for individuals with five years or more of diverse volunteer experience, and Distinguished Awards for those who have volunteered for at least one year.
Nominations are currently open, and residents are encouraged to put forward individuals who deserve recognition. The deadline to submit nominations is Friday, February 27, 2026.
The Civic Awards program is supported by a number of community sponsors, including local service clubs, businesses and media partners, helping ensure volunteers continue to be recognized for their contributions to Cobourg.
