Cobourg Police Service Deputy Chief Jeff Haskins will retire in August 2026, concluding a distinguished 35-year career in law enforcement.
Haskins joined the Cobourg Police Service in November 2021 after serving with the Durham Regional Police Service and quickly became a key leader within the organization. During his tenure, Haskins spearheaded several initiatives, including the introduction of a body-worn camera program, the Downtown Action Plan, and a high-visibility cruiser pilot. He has also focused on officer wellness, operational effectiveness, and modernization efforts, such as upgrading technology and improving facilities. Haskins has been widely recognized for strengthening partnerships within the community and advancing the service’s overall professionalism.
Board Chair Adam Bureau thanked Haskins for his dedication, leadership, and service to both the police force and the wider Cobourg community. “We are grateful for his many contributions to the Cobourg Police Service, its members, and the broader community. After a distinguished career, we wish him every success and happiness in his well-deserved retirement,” Bureau said.
Haskins expressed gratitude to the board, Chief Paul VandeGraaf, and the officers and staff of the Cobourg Police Service, highlighting the professionalism, resilience, and commitment to public safety that he has witnessed throughout his service.
The Cobourg Police Service Board will begin the process to fill the upcoming leadership vacancy, in accordance with its governance responsibilities, ensuring continuity and stability within the service.
