Cobourg police have laid multiple charges following several unrelated investigations involving theft, threats and break and enter incidents across the community.
Police say two Cobourg women are facing charges following a shoplifting investigation that began on January 12. Officers were called to a business in the northeast end of town after a theft was reported. One suspect was located nearby, and a second was later identified through CCTV footage.
A 30 year old Cobourg woman was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime. Police say she was held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody. The following day, officers located the second suspect during patrol in the downtown core. A 36 year old Cobourg woman was arrested on the same charges and later released following a bail hearing.
In a separate incident, police responded to a report of threats at a downtown business on January 13. Police say a 37 year old Cobourg man allegedly refused to leave the premises and threatened an employee. He was arrested and charged with uttering threats and three counts of failing to comply with a probation order, and was later released. Police note they have had numerous interactions with the accused over the past year.
