The Peterborough Petes have moved local talent Colin Fitzgerald to the Soo Greyhounds in a deal that brings six draft picks back to Peterborough.
The trade sees the Petes acquire a 2028 2nd-round pick (NB), a 2029 2nd-round pick (Oshawa), 2027 and 2029 3rd-round picks (both Oshawa), a 2028 4th-round pick (NB), and a 2029 6th-round pick (Soo).
Fitzgerald, a 2009-born forward from Otonabee, played 72 games for the Petes across parts of two seasons, putting up 18 goals and 23 assists for 41 points. He also represented Canada at the 2025 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, recording two assists in five games as the team earned bronze.
“I’d like to thank Colin for his time as a Peterborough Pete over the last two seasons,” said Petes General Manager and Vice President of Operations Michael Oke. “We wish him all the best as he continues his career in Sault Ste. Marie.”
The Petes return to the ice tonight when they host the North Bay Battalion. Puck drop is 7:05pm at the Memorial Centre, with the game presented by Women for Wishes in support of Make-A-Wish Canada. You can listen to Peterborough Kia Petes Hockey on Freq 90.5 with coverage beginning just before 7pm.
