The Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board has elected Clarington trustee Paul Brown as its new chairperson for the coming year, with Trustee Angela Lloyd chosen as vice-chairperson. The selections were made during the board’s annual organizational meeting, where trustees also confirmed meeting dates and banking arrangements for 2025.
Brown, now in his first term as trustee, previously served as vice-chair and chaired the Program Review, Audit and Real Estate Disposal Committees. He said the role comes at a pivotal moment for public education.
“These are incredibly important days in public education — locally elected Trustees take great pride in living and being a part of the communities they represent,” Brown said. “It is an honour and a privilege to be entrusted by the Board with this leadership role… We are passionate in our commitment and collective responsibility to continue to do all that we can to put students at the heart of our decision making.”
Lloyd, representing Asphodel-Norwood, Cavan Monaghan, Douro-Dummer and Otonabee-South Monaghan, is a past chair and vice-chair of the board. She said the year ahead is an opportunity to reaffirm the board’s educational mission.
“Every year we have an opportunity to re-dedicate ourselves to making local decisions in the public interest that best meet the needs of the students and families we serve,” Lloyd said. “It is my great pleasure to serve the Board in this role… and we remain focused on inspiring our students to excel in learning, succeed in life, and enrich our communities.”
The board’s new leadership team will guide governance and policy decisions for more than 38,000 students across the region as it enters the 2025 term.
