Habitat for Humanity Northumberland has launched its annual “Home for the Holidays” campaign offering donors a chance to double their impact thanks to a $15,000 matching gift opportunity.
The organization is aiming to raise $30,000 by Dec. 31 to complete two single detached homes – one in Cobourg and one in Brighton – which will provide safe, affordable housing for nine individuals. The campaign’s focus is on raising funds for final building materials, including drywall, interior doors, lighting and paint.
Part Time CFO Services and Stadtke Plumbing and Heating have pledged to match all donations up to $15,000, effectively doubling each gift made during the campaign period.
“This is our biggest year ever in terms of the number of people we’ve been able to house,” said Habitat CEO Cathy Borrowec. “With these final two homes, we’ll have housed over 30 individuals in 2025 alone and we need the community’s help to get us across the finish line.”
Donations can be made online or in-person at the Habitat ReStore, but due to the ongoing mail strike, the organization is asking supporters to avoid mailing cheques. A donation shopping list is also available online for those who wish to contribute specific building items.
Director of operations Aimee Tedford says every dollar makes a difference: “We’re asking people to give a gift – and double its impact.”
