The annual poppy campaign is set to begin on October 31, running through to November 11, as the Napanee Legion encourages residents to show their support for veterans.
myFM spoke with Poppy Chair Tina Reid, who shared poppies will be available at most stores across town and at the Legion.
Service Officer Jack Magilton says funds raised through the campaign help veterans, their families, and local seniors.
Donations also support the Ontario Command’s homeless veterans initiative, service dog program, and bursary fund for children of service members.
It means a lot to the Legion to see a sea of poppies on Remembrance Day. They say the community does a good job of supporting the campaign.
The Legion will host its annual remembrance dinner on November 9 at the Legion. Tickets cost $35 and include a roast beef meal served at 2 pm. They’re available in advance by calling or visiting the Legion.
