A heavy police presence continues on Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory as authorities target illegal cannabis production. Tyendinaga Police Service (TPS) and the Ontario Provincial Police’s Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau began executing multiple warrants on the reserve Tuesday.
Officials say the operation has led to the recovery of stolen property, seizure of firearms, and the halt of unlawful water diversion from the Bay of Quinte. Several arrests have been made, involving both members and non-members of the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte.
Authorities estimate the illegal operation’s potential profits were in the millions. TPS says further updates will be provided as the investigation continues.
Meanwhile, the Tyendinaga Mohawk Council has released a statement regarding this week’s coordinated police effort on the territory.
