A biennial showcase of Peterborough artists’ talents and creativity returns this weekend in the form of Artsweek.
With the theme Art In Unexpected Places, performances until October 5th will see dancers, circus artists, poets, musicians and visual artists showcase their work in out-of-the-norm locations. In total, some 80 local creators and artists are involved.
Artsweek producer Bill Kimball, who is also board chair of organizer Electric City Culture Council, says the pop-up performance aspect of Artsweek is what truly sets it apart, citing the example of a play being presented by Kim Blackwell.
Kimball says with government arts funding constantly under review, Artsweek serves as a reminder of what a vibrant arts scene contributes to the community.
Kimball says the joy he sees on people’s faces at Artsweek events brings a smile to his face.
Artsweek launches Sunday (September 28), 3 p.m., at Millennium Park. For more information, and the full schedule of events, visit www.artsweekpeterborough.ca.
