Four people are facing a long list of charges after a vehicle repeatedly fled from police before officers made arrests and seized drugs and cash.
Police say the investigation began around 4:15 am on September 22, when an officer on general patrol attempted a traffic stop on an older pickup truck. The vehicle sped off, nearly hitting several parked cars. Later that afternoon, another officer spotted the truck in the Sherbrooke and Monaghan area, but it again fled at a high rate of speed, running a stop sign in the process.
The next day around 1:30 pm, officers on general patrol saw the truck in the Aylmer and Brock area. Members of the Emergency Response Team and Investigative Services assisted, and a short time later, police located the vehicle in a laneway near Sherbrooke and Medical Drive. Four people were arrested.
Officers seized more than 54 grams of cocaine, 11 grams of fentanyl, over $3,000 in cash, psilocybin, cell phones, and a stolen licence plate.
A 49-year-old Peterborough man faces 13 charges including drug trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime, dangerous operation, flight from police, and multiple Highway Traffic Act offences.
A 29-year-old Lindsay woman, a 27-year-old Peterborough man, and a 32-year-old Peterborough man are also charged with drug trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime.
