The Ontario SPCA and Humane Society is hosting a special adoption event from September 26 to 28 to help animals find loving homes. During the three-day event, adoption fees will be reduced by 20 per cent for most animals and waived entirely for senior pets, thanks to support from HomeEquity Bank.
The event, called iAdopt: Furever Homes, focuses on creating perfect matches between senior animals and adopters aged 55 and older. Senior pets are often overlooked in shelters, but they are typically calm, house-trained, and well-mannered, making them ideal companions for older Canadians. Adopting a pet can improve mental and physical well-being, reduce loneliness, and provide a sense of purpose.
Those unable to adopt can still help by fostering animals, offering temporary homes to pets who need extra care. More information about available animals and fostering opportunities is available at ontariospca.ca.
